Why Women Can't Afford to be Price Driven

Passing the responsibility of car maintenance and repair to the man of the house may once have been an option in many American homes, but not anymore. In an era when more and more women motorists are responsible for the care of their cars, the buck may have found a new stopping place. But where are these women going for their automotive care needs and why?

According to a recent survey by the Car Care Council Women’s Board (WB), many women are driven by price. Forty-one percent said that cost determines where they take their cars for maintenance/repair. “That’s a troubling statistic,” says Donna Wagner, Director of the WB.portant, but “Of course price is important, but there’s so much more to consider when choosing a repair facility. Our Board encourages women to shop around for a repair shop before they’re in the middle of a crisis, so they can weigh all the options.”

Wagner urges women to use these tips to locate a good repair facility:

“It’s encouraging to note that 73 percent of women motorists are interested in automotive maintenance and repair,” says Wagner. “ With 71 percent of the nation’s women driving the oldest vehicle in the household, that’s an important statistic.”

The more knowledgeable a person is about maintenance, the better care she will take of her vehicle, says the WB. That translates into safer, more dependable vehicles for female motorists.
