Move over SUV and Minivan, There’s a New Family Vehicle in Town
Picking out a new car these
days can be tough. Many Americans want better gas mileage, but don’t want
to give up the room of the bigger vehicles they’ve grown accustom to.
Now vehicles that merge the best of cars, vans and sports utility vehicles,
known as “Crossovers,” are fast becoming the choice for families.
First, the choice for mom, dad and the kids were were sedans - then came minivans,
and shortly thereafter SUVs. Now “Crossovers” are becoming the vehicle
of choice. The ride and feul economy are better than traditional larger vehicles.
At the same time better design and technology have given these “room for
eight” vehicles the aerodynamics of a sportscar.
The latest in this trend was unveiled at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show in the form
of The Chevrolet Traverse. The latest example of a ‘do-just-about-anything’
Crossover, this designed by a mother of four vehicle offers family-friendly
features with an emphasis on space and security.
