When choosing to climb into a Toyota product, be assured there will be plenty of trim levels and models from which to choose. The Camry, a long-time favorite, is no exception. Our 2021 Toyota Camry in the new Ice Edge color is the TRD trim level and comes with lots to remind you, in the way of TRD matte-black alloy wheels, a matte-black center cap with red TRD logo, stainless steel tips, red TRD badging, a TRD gloss-black pedestal rear spoiler and TRD cat-back dual exhaust with polished stainless-steel tips. Can’t miss it. It’s a sharp looking sedan although this writer would prefer without the back spoiler!

Our 2021 Camry TRD V6 came equipped with a few options including Two-toned Midnight Black Metallic Roof and rear spoiler with black window trim and side-view mirror caps ($500), all-weather floor liners/cargo try ($259), rear bumper applique ($69), and Door sill enhancements ($199). Our 2021 Camry TRD edition came in Ice Edge/with Midnight Black roof.
The outside side mirrors are power-and-heated-with blind spot warning indicators, which once the driver gets used to this feature won’t want to be without it. Auto-engine shut-off and hill-assist control are standard, as are Toyota Safety Sense, Pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, full-speed dynamic alert with steering assist, Lane tracing assist, and automatic high beams.

The TRD package also includes a Cat-black dual exhaust with polished stainless-steel tips, Red painted brake calipers, TRD Gloss-black rear spoiler, Aero kit w/red pin-striping and Red TRD badge. The look is ‘racy,’ and would appeal to a certain buyer. Otherwise, the Camry drives as expected, smooth, quiet and comfortable.

The Camry remains one of the most popular midsize sedans available. As with all Toyota products, the Camry can brag about its above-average predicted reliability. It is a roomy sedan with advanced technology features, and a well-known quiet interior and pleasant ride. Camry has managed to sell well year-after-year and this year it gets additional interior refinement. The Camry can now be had in all-wheel-drive and optional hybrid which brags up to 52 mpg.

Camry’s ‘pros’ continue to include a long list of standard driver safety technologies, a reputation for being dependable and great fuel economy. Although those looking for a ‘sporty’ sedan may lean towards other offerings (think Nissan Maxima), the Camry’s TRD edition may be able to persuade those seeking a sportier sedan to give it a try. It’s important to note the Camry is also fairly priced, no matter the trim level.

As with many vehicles in 2021, there exists an abundance of safety features. The airbag system on the 2021 Camry TRD V6 includes 10 airbags, including front passenger, advanced airbag system, driver and front passenger seat mounted side airbag, knee airbag (driver, passenger), rear seat-mounted side airbag, front and rear side curtain airbag
levels, including: LE ($24,970), LE Hybrid ($27,270), SE ($26,485), SE Hybrid ($28,785), SE Nightshade Edition ($27,185), XLE ($29,870), XLE Hybrid ($32,170), XSE ($30,420), XSE Hybrid.

Buyers have no excuse for not finding the Camry of their choice. Toyota offers at least 12 trim ($32,720), TRD ($32,185), XLE V6 ($34,995), and XSE V6 ($35,545). All-wheel-drive is also available. All get a 5-star safety rating.

Surprisingly, Toyota-an auto manufacturer who excels in most things automotive-doesn’t have a competitive warranty. One may not feel ‘excited’ when laying their eyes on the Camry TRD, but it’s an attempt to attract a different, perhaps younger, buyer.

The TRD version is a sharp-looking car. Who says sedans can’t be sexy. I got plenty of stares!!
